We heard a most peculiar piece of
reportedly confirmed information from our allegedly accurate sources
this week, and it involves none other than musical genius Phil
Collins! After the jump, we will share top secret details regarding
the composition and release of an “Uber” collaboration between
Collins and Alexandre Desplat
While experimenting with ideas for the Star Wars Anthology: Rogue One soundtrack, composer Alexandre Desplat came up with a whole new
idea for the film's intro sequence! Originally, Grand Wizard and director Gareth Edwards requested that The Cantina Song should play during the opening
crawl, but Desplat had better ideas; you could even call this his
“Eureka” moment!
Akin to the Bond movies, the film will
open with a montage of dazzling special effects, visually introducing
us to the new characters; with accompanying music by Phil Collins!
Collins will collaborate with Desplat, as well as veteran Star Wars composer, John
Williams, on the song titled, Why You Gotta Leave Me Here In
Carbonite?, featuring 80s pop-rock influences and lyrics inspired
by the plot of The Empire Strikes Back.
A bonus track Going Round In Circles
(AT-AT Takedown Mix) will be included on the official soundtrack,
which will receive a limited vinyl release on December 12th, 2016.
Stay
tuned for more regarding this exciting development!
