Disney Partners with Tidal for The Force Awakens OST


Forty-four time Academy Award loser and three-time octogenarian John Williams is hipping and hopping to an all-new business model in the music industry.  In an unprecedented move, the legendary composer is ditching the Compact Disc and Vinyl formats, and even iTunes, in favor of something more symphony-friendly: the high fidelity Tidal subscription serviceBeginning with the soundtrack to Star Wars: The Force Awakens, John Williams will be releasing forthcoming albums exclusively on the streaming service owned by Jay Z.

Tidal hopes to win over film music fans by offering the absolute best possible quality when listening on repeat for the bassoon motifs and inconsistencies against the original 1977 version of the world’s fourth most popular movie theme.

Jay Z, who acquired Tidal Music Streaming earlier this year had this to say at a press conference held in the lobby of Disneyland’s Star Tours attraction, “As a long time Star Wars fan, I cannot wait to hear new John Williams' new music.  As this new film takes places some thirty years in the future of the saga, it's only fitting that the soundtrack be available for purchase through a company who thinks thirty years into music’s future.”


Williams has different thoughts on the very first exclusive soundtrack deal, “I just hope the highest revenue streams Tidal promises appeases George’s insatiable hunger for tie-in profit.  That and I hope Tidal is compatible with my digital hearing aids.”  Lucas Star Wars merchandise profits since the early 80's equal roughly 9 billion dollars not spent on kids's college funds or local girl guide camping trips.
