Young Han Solo's Elf/Vampire College Years |
With Disney’s announcement of a
Star Wars Anthology: Han Solo movie last week, all speculation has turned to rabid wondering about who is to be cast in the iconic role made famous by Harrison Ford. After some snooping, we managed to get our grubby little hands on some extremely exciting casting information.

Stop or I'll make you squirt! |
No we can't tell you that Chris Pratt will be playing our favorite swashbuckling pilot, but we have confirmed that the new film's story will introduce the character of Khan Solo (the "h" is silent). Khan is the elder Solo; Han's daddy whom we have yet to meet in any of the canon or non canon or fan-fiction movies, novels, comics, video games, board games, lunch boxes or action figures that make up the convoluted
Star Wars solar system.
According to our mighty source J-Wad, Tom Selleck has locked the part! This is very interesting indeed given Tom Selleck's near-miss history with Harrison Ford movies. Lawrence Kasdan, co-writer of the young Han Solo movie rallied support for Selleck's involvement in the movie as a sort of homage and possibly apology for the actor having missed out on the opportunity to play Indiana Jones back in the early 80's.

"You and your lousy contract can get the #$@% out!" |
Film buffs everywhere know the story but for those of you unfamiliar: Tom Selleck was the original choice to play Indiana Jones, but scheduling conflicts between the film and his then television series
Magnum P.I. took him out of the running. When Selleck dropped out of Raiders Of The Lost Ark, Lucas and Spielberg had to go with their distant second choice - Harrison Ford.

Having already seen his mediocre work in two
Star Wars films, Spielberg famously said to the
Hollywood Reporter "Look, he's a good looking man but all that brooding and poor treatment of women and wookiees alike just won't work that well with the Indiana Jones character. Plus the lacklustre box office of Georgie's pictures may hurt our chances of properly ripping off James Bond."
We aren’t sure if Selleck’s Hawaiian shirts will make an appearance in the Han Solo spinoff, but we are told his famous men's shorts and moustache will be key components of Khan Solo's character design.
We here at Faking Star Wars think that Tom Selleck is one of the few actors who can reasonably be tough, awesome, smart, witty and just overall dashing like a Solo should be! What do you think?
