Disney Working with Starbucks on Tasty Promotion!

In light of the interest regarding the new Disney release of Star Wars, The Force Awakens, the company has partnered with an unlikely source to work out a cozy, friendly, and efficient customer rewards program to keep fans returning to watch the film in the theaters over and over.  After the jump find out what this steamy tie-in is!

Star Wars:  Finally made legit by coffee promotions
Bob Iger explained, "We pondered long and hard about how to make the theatrical experience for fans a more commercially mundane and insipid proposition. We realized early on that part of the problem with "The Force Awakens," from a marketing standpoint, is that it is unique and niche. We tried really hard to brainstorm some ways to bring the release down to the level of the average viewer's daily experience.  We thought "How can we take the excitement surrounding this film and tie it in with something completely mediocre?  Something you'd find at literally every corner anywhere you go?"  Our answer is the "Star Wars Bucks" card, which the customer can get punched at any local theater upon viewing "The Force Awakens." Every ten punches gives the customer a free pass to see the film in a theater of their choosing."

The card will also double as a coffee punch accumulator at local Starbucks franchises. With the purchase of various Star Wars-themed coffee products, customers can spend their hard-earned dollars on such luxurious specialty roasts such as "Java the Hutt" and "Italian Darth Roast Supremo." Each purchase goes towards more "Star Wars Bucks" that can be converted into credits at department stores and retailers to buy figurines or even soundtracks.  "For the first time, there's a way to monetize the Star Wars brand for fans in a fun, relevant way", Iger noted.

Fans can finally nerd out by buying Star Wars-themed home goods.

The holy grail of the promotional symbiosis though, is a new specialty roast called "Gungan Dookie," which is a specialty roast hand-selected by George Lucas himself. Lucas spent literally weeks picking through the best Indonesian civet dookie to find the rare beans processed through the feline's digestive system.  Finally, this varietal was deemed worthy of a Gungan. With 100 punches at the theater to see Force Awakens, fans can exchange their punch card for one steaming mug of Kopi Luwak Gungan Dookie - the rarest coffee in the galaxy!

Kopi Luwak:  Gungan for delicious.

Promotions will be ramping up soon, and fans can start accruing their Star Wars Bucks the day of the release on December 18th.
