Lucasfilm and Disney in Negotiations with Netflix for a Cartoon Series

It seems Netflix has struck a deal with Lucasfilm Animation and Disney in doing a cartoon series about a fan favorite character from the Star Wars universe. Join us for all the details and a look into their plans after the jump.

Reports are coming in from one of Jacen's cousins that Netflix will be producing a new Star Wars cartoon that will be in the vein of the 80's cartoon classic Ewoks. Netflix is pushing to release a series meant for younger children based on days in the life of the Gungans!

Some early concept art of the Gungan superstar of Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace, Jar Jar Binks, has surfaced to confirm these reports.

Netflix execs are saying that today's children need good old fashioned educational entertainment to better secure their future and get society back on track. They feel that there is only one show that could pull this off, Gungans. The series will follow the early life of Jar Jar and teach kids life lessons from telling the truth, to eating your vegetables. Jar Jar will be about 10 years old in the series.

We have also received word from Jar Jar's voice actor/motion capture performer, Ahmed Best, that he will be the show runner for the series and voice Jar Jar. Best went on to say the stories they tell in Gungans will be a part of the new Star Wars canon.

Best also confirmed Jaleel White (best known for his roles as Steve Urkel in Family Matters and Sonic in The Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog) will voice Jar Jar's father, George Binks.

Let us know what you think and stay tuned here at Faking Star Wars for all the updates to on the new series as they come.
